This is the band's follow-up to their debut album, Starmaker (2009), which was picked by the Independent Weekly as the "Album of the Month" when it was released.
Residing in Chapel Hill, NC, the band started in 2007 as a creative outlet between wife and husband, Andrea Connolly (vocals and guitar) and Pete Connolly (vocals and
drums). Together they self released 2 EPs. The first eponymous EP documents the strained conditions under which the two first met, while Woodgrain Heart EP tells of how the two grew together.
The Baltimore City Paper declared, "Singer/guitarist Andrea Connolly's sweetly smoky voice and twangy tunes with Pete Connolly's complementary harmonies and bombastic
drums combined to create one of the more complete, full-bodied sounds ever to come out of a two-person band."
Josh Starmer (cello) joined in 2009 during the recording of the band's first full length record "Starmaker" adding haunting melodies and enriching the duo's musical vision. "Starmaker" expanding the couple's narrative to describe tales of coming of age while still remaining intensely personal.
The romance between Andrea and Pete's voices is distinctly captivating and intertwines with Josh's beautiful cello rhythms. Birds and Arrows accomplish an elegant, warm sound that is truly their own. Their compelling and road tested live show appeals to a surprisingly wide range of audiences; they are the cherished rock band for folk lovers and the favorite folk group for rock fans.
Thanks for the continued support.
